When Should You Engage A PR Consultant?

You should engage a public relations (PR) consultant when you suffer from an image problem.  That is, of course,  if you can afford it.  And if the stake is high enough.  Painting a favorable image on the stage is essential for a leader.  The stage can be at the village level, the national, or the world wide one.  If it's the national, you call in a local consultant; if it's international, you call an international consultant.
1.  The choice whether or not to engage a PR consultant, and which consultant to engage when come to that, rests with the person or institution which perceives the possible need.
2.  What does a PR consultant do?  Basically a PR consultant helps the person paint a 'better' image for himself (or herself).
3.  A better image may mean the present image may not be the one one would like to project to the public since perhaps, the image one possesses leaves so much to be desired.
4.  A PR consultant can advise you what sort of attire you should wear on various public occasions, what sort of things you should say to various audience, what sort of events you should attend, what sort of other public figures you should meet, and so on.
5.  So engaging a PR is quite a benign idea.  So one thinks.
6.  But image-making is a serious business and can be intrusive, for mere image is just a facade which strong winds will tear to the ground.
7.  So an effective image 'building' cannot stop at the cosmetic level, but must come with deeper, invasive procedures.
8.  That is when the PR insists on a role in shaping the national policies of a nation, a role usually reserved for the leader's inner circle of advisers and strategic teams.
9.  When an international PR consultant is engaged and the extent of engagement is extensive, the result is akin to surrendering part of the nation's sovereignty.
10.  And then there is the factor of 'What makes an effective PR consultant organisation - one sought after by every beseiged leader?'
11.  An effective consultant company must be manned by the who's who on the world stage.
12.  They must be well-connected and can pull strings, and well-disposed to ruthless tactics.
13.  So you see in the list of 'advisers for such company former former ambassadors and diplomats, senators, congressmen, lobbyists, retired politicians and former spies.
14.  Basically, they are the mafia which runs the world.
15.  They can arrange for you to meet the US President, talk at an important UN forum - even head one - and anything that can make you look like a respectable statesman.
16.  Yes, that is what you actually need if do not possess the quality of one.
